How does Anointing of the Sick relate to the mercy of God?
Anointing of the Sick is a sacrament centered around the mercy of God. Mercy is defined as compassion or forgiveness shown toward someone whom it is within one's power to punish or harm. God shows compassion toward those in critical condition. He forgives sin and gives the receiver strength to face whatever comes next, whether it is entering into the God's Kingdom or being healed physically. God is providing His grace, and giving you a clean slate right before facing your judgement.
- -prayer of the priest/ bishop over the sick person for the grace of the Holy Spirit and the forgiveness of sins

- "Then Peter said, silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. So he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them- walking, leaping, and praising God. All the people saw him walking and praising God." Acts 3:1-10
- "There was an estate nearby that belonged to Publius, the chief official of the island. He welcomed us to his home and showed us generous hospitality for three days. His father was sick in bed, suffering from fever and dysentery. Paul wet to see him and, after prayer, placed his hands on him and healed him. When this had happened, the rest of the sick on the island came and were cured." Acts: 28:7-9
- "Seated in a window was a young man named Eutychus, who was sinking into a deep sleep as Paul talked on and on. When he was sound asleep, he fell to the ground from the third story and was picked up dead. Paul went down, threw himself on top of the young man and put his arms around him. 'Don't be alarmed' he said. 'He's alive!' Then he went upstairs again and broke bread and ate. After talking until daylight, he left. The people took the young man home alive and were greatly comforted." Acts 20: 9-12
