My first experience of Reconciliation was when I was in second grade. It was a few months before my First Holy Communion, and helped me further prepare my heart for Jesus. I spent weeks memorizing the Act of Contrition and Ten Commandments in preparation for this special sacrament. It was very nerve wracking, and I grew more and more nervous as it approached. My second grade class and I said the Act of Contrition together, then spent time examining our consciences. We all lined up waiting for our turn. When it was my turn, I slowly walked up to the priest. I did everything I was taught, and the priest gave me reassurance. After I confessed my sins and they were absolved, I was given my penance. I did my penance and felt closer to God again. It was like I was given a clean slate and a renewed grace.
